Dr. Jamara is an optometrist at New England Eye, working at several of its sites throughout Boston.  He is also an Associate Professor of Optometry at the New England College of Optometry (NECO), where he teaches courses in low vision rehabilitation and geriatrics.

Dr. Jamara conducts research on low vision testing and the quality of life for geriatric low vision patients. He is also a fellow of the American Academy of Optometry, an honor earned by optometrists who have shown evidence they are distinguished in their field, including passing an oral exam. Dr. Jamara was in private practice for 15 years.

He earned an OD from the New England College of Optometry and a BS from the University of Massachusetts Amherst.
